Shichimi Seasoned Rice
Give your perfectly cooked rice a boost of flavour with this shichimi seasoned rice recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice
- 1 Star anise
- 1 Stick of cinnamon
- 3 Cloves
- 200 ml Coconut milk
- 2 tsp Shichimi togarashi powder
Instructions
- Wash rice until the water runs clear.
- Add rice to pot pour in coconut milk and top up with water up to the first crease of your finger.
- Add the star anise, cinnamon and cloves and bring water to boil.
- Gently simmer the water and cook until the water has gone and the rice is cooked. Roughly 20 minutes.
- Leave to stand for 5 minutes and remove the star anise, cloves and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle Shichimi Togarashi over the top of the rice and serve with your favourite Chinese dish. (I love to eat this on its own)
